Blackshield Tokenless

Blackshield Tokenless

One of the tokenless tools Cryptocard uses is: GrIDsure.

For more information about grID take a look at the movie in the sidebar -->

GrIDsure Authentication Method

This flexible method allows an end-user to generate a one-time password without the requirement for hardware tokens or software applications. GrIDsure works by presenting the end-user with a matrix of cells during enrolment containing random characters, from which they select a 'personal identification pattern' (PIP).

Thereafter, whenever the end-user wishes to authenticate to a BLACKSHIELD ID protected resource, the user is presented with a challenge grid containing random characters. The user then enters the characters in the cells that correspond to their PIP. No hardware to lose and far superior to static passwords.Every time the challenge grid appears, the characters in the cells are different, so the user is always entering a one-time passcode.

Easy to Deploy

In terms of BLACKSHIELD ID, it is easy for administrators to roll out GrIDsure tokens to end users, as they can be either auto provisioned from Active Directory or manually assigned to end users. In both cases users will complete the simple yet secure self-enrolment process through which they will select their PIP and activate the token.

All of the token and tokenless methods can be mixed and matched

The question of which token or combination of tokens to issue to users is answered by finding the optimum balance of convenience, cost and mobility that satisfies the organization’s security policy and desired end user experience.
